Full Description

Cross-reference: comparable in class to XIAMETER AFE-0700 Antifoam Emulsion (a Dow product): both are water-carried polydimethylsiloxane/silica antifoam emulsions in the same actives band (this grade typical 9–13% active; AFE-0700 published at 10% active). RawSource is independent of Dow; qualify dosing in your own foaming system against the RawSource TDS.

Silicone Antifoam Emulsion is a water-based dispersion of polydimethylsiloxane (silicone fluid) supplied for foam control. Silicone antifoams of this type are used to suppress foam in aqueous systems, in petroleum processing, and in detergent and cleaning applications.

Typical Specifications

Typical properties of the supplied grade (product code RS-AF 615). These are typical production values, not a sales specification — the lot-specific Certificate of Analysis governs each shipment, and the product is supplied for industrial use.

Emulsion vs. compound. This grade is supplied as an emulsion — the silicone active is pre-dispersed in water, so it dilutes and meters straight into aqueous systems at ppm levels. A neat silicone compound (effectively 100% active, no water) is used where water cannot be introduced or in non-aqueous media. For most water-based process, wastewater, petroleum, and cleaning duties, the emulsion is the practical form.

Starting-Dose Guide

Starting points only — dose to the minimum that holds foam on your actual stream, since full-scale shear and feed dynamics differ from bench tests. Figures are for the product as supplied.

System / foamTypical starting doseHow to feed
Aqueous surfactant / process foam~5–50 ppmMeter into the turbulence or spray onto the foam; trial down to the floor
Wastewater aeration basin~5–50 ppmDose at the inlet or recirculation; keep the dose minimal — overdosing can reduce oxygen transfer

Comparable Products

RawSource Silicone Antifoam Emulsion is a general-purpose silicone (PDMS) emulsion defoamer for aqueous systems. It is comparable in function to silicone antifoam and defoamer emulsion grades such as Wacker Silfoam and Momentive SAG, and to general process antifoams such as Antifoam 204. Select by active content, dilutability, and your system’s foam type rather than by brand name, and request a sample for side-by-side trial dosing. Frequently Asked Questions

What is silicone antifoam emulsion?

Silicone antifoam emulsion is a water-based dispersion of polydimethylsiloxane (silicone fluid) supplied for foam control. The pre-emulsified form is water-dilutable for direct dosing into aqueous systems.

What is silicone antifoam used for?

It is used to suppress and break foam in water-based process systems, for foam control in petroleum and oil/gas processing streams, and in detergent and cleaning formulations. The emulsion form allows dosing directly into aqueous lines.

What is silicone antifoam made of?

It is a dispersion of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS silicone fluid) in water, typically with emulsifiers to maintain a stable, water-dilutable emulsion. Exact composition varies by product; consult the SDS for the specific supplied grade.

How is silicone antifoam emulsion dosed?

Because it is pre-emulsified, it can be diluted in water and dosed directly into aqueous systems at the foam-prone point. Dosage depends on the system and foam load, so confirm an appropriate rate against your process and the product technical data sheet.

Can silicone antifoam emulsion be supplied in bulk?

Yes. RawSource supplies silicone antifoam emulsion in drum, tote, and IBC quantities for process, petroleum, and detergent applications. Request a bulk quote with your volume; CoA and SDS are available on request.
