Monoammonium Phosphate (MAP) is an acidic ammonium salt widely used as a fertilizer and fire retardant. It provides nitrogen and phosphorus nutrients to plants in readily available forms. MAP is also the most common dry chemical fire extinguishing agent. In food applications, it serves as a leavening agent and pH regulator.
