HALS-123 Light Stabilizer (NOR-HALS N-Alkoxy Hindered Amine)

CAS 129757-67-1

A liquid N-alkoxy hindered amine light stabilizer, commonly called a NOR-HALS, in which the piperidine nitrogen carries an octyloxy (N-OR) group rather than N-H. This lowers the basicity of the molecule so it stays stable toward acids and acid-catalyzed cure chemistry while retaining strong radical-scavenging light protection

Full Description

Conventional N-H and N-methyl HALS can be neutralized by acidic catalysts and co-additives, which limits where they can be used; the non-basic N-alkoxy structure here sidesteps that and keeps performing in acid-catalyzed, waterborne and high-solids systems that would deactivate an ordinary HALS. Being a liquid, it is straightforward to meter and incorporate. It is widely used to stabilize automotive, industrial and wood coatings against gloss loss, cracking and chalking, and also protects polyurethane, polystyrene, ABS, polyolefin (PE/PP/TPO) and polyester articles during weathering, often combined with a UV absorber

Comparable to Tinuvin 123: RawSource supplies this as an independent equivalent (an offset) to Tinuvin 123 — it is an N-alkoxy (NOR-HALS) aminoether hindered-amine light stabilizer. It is not genuine Tinuvin 123-branded material, and RawSource is not affiliated with, authorized by, or endorsed by BASF.
