Cyanoethylated Isophoronediamine (Acrylonitrile-IPDA Adduct)

CAS 90530-15-7

Cyanoethylated isophoronediamine is the Michael-addition adduct of acrylonitrile onto isophoronediamine (IPDA). Capping part of the amine functionality lowers reactivity, which turns an otherwise fast cycloaliphatic diamine into a slower, easier-to-handle epoxy curing agent with a longer working window

Full Description

This modified amine is used as a hardener for epoxy coatings, flooring, grouts, castings and adhesives where a long pot life and a cleaner cured surface matter more than the fastest possible cure. Partial cyanoethylation cuts the free primary-amine content that drives carbamation, so cured films show less of the surface blush, bloom and greasiness that neat IPDA can give in cool, humid conditions. It can also be used to modify polyurethane and hybrid systems. It is a corrosive, amber liquid handled like other reactive amine hardeners
