Full Description

2-Methyltriethylenediamine (2-methyl-TEDA) is a gelling amine catalyst for polyurethane — a methylated triethylenediamine variant of the benchmark DABCO catalyst with a modified activity profile. Identity: CAS 1193-66-4.

What it is

2-Methyltriethylenediamine (CAS 1193-66-4, 2-methyl-1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane) is a bicyclic diamine, the methyl-substituted analogue of TEDA. It is commonly supplied in solution.

How it catalyzes

It catalyzes the gel (urethane) reaction like TEDA, with the methyl substituent modifying basicity and selectivity. Balanced with a blowing catalyst to tune the foam.

Applications

It is used in flexible and rigid polyurethane foam and CASE as a gelling catalyst, with a blowing co-catalyst. The parent is TEDA.

Forms, grades and handling

Supplied neat or in solution, in drums, IBCs and bulk. Properties are typical reference values; the Certificate of Analysis (CoA) for the lot you buy governs. Amine catalysts are typically corrosive and have a strong odor — handle per the current Safety Data Sheet (SDS). Each lot ships with CoA, TDS and SDS.

Bulk supply and RFQ

RawSource sources 2-Methyltriethylenediamine direct from producers in bulk, with CoA, TDS and SDS per lot. Tell us your system (flexible/rigid foam, CASE), the reaction balance you need (gel vs blow), and any low-emission requirement, and we will quote the right catalyst or blend. See the full range and gel/blow selection logic in the polyurethane catalysts guide.
