UV-360 (bisoctrizole, CAS 103597-45-1, formula C41H50N6O2) is a dimeric hydroxyphenyl-benzotriazole UV absorber for polycarbonate, PET, and engineering plastics. Two benzotriazole units in one molecule give it strong ultraviolet absorption and very low volatility, so it resists loss during hot processing and stays in the part. Host polymers and typical use

UV-360 is dispersed into the polymer or coating during compounding or formulation, where it absorbs ultraviolet light before it can break polymer chains, fade pigments, or dull the surface. The systems below are where UV-360 is most often specified.

Typical use levels for polymer UV absorbers fall in the 0.1 to 1.0 percent range, set by part thickness, expected outdoor exposure, and the co-stabilizer package (commonly a hindered-amine light stabilizer).
