Applications & Use Cases
- ▸ Used as a clear, solids-free monovalent completion and packer brine (single-salt fluid to ~12.5 lb/gal, and higher when blended with calcium bromide) to control downhole pressure without damaging the producing formation.
- ▸ Serves as the bromide precursor for activated/stabilized bromine biocide programs: combined with an oxidizer such as sodium hypochlorite it generates hypobromous acid for microbial control in cooling-tower and recirculating water systems.
- ▸ Applied in oilfield and industrial water systems to suppress sulfate-reducing and other bacteria responsible for reservoir souring, biofouling, and microbially-influenced corrosion.
- ▸ Employed as a bromide-ion source and brominating intermediate in fine-chemical, dye, and pharmaceutical-intermediate synthesis.
- ▸ Used as a photographic-grade reagent to form and control silver-bromide grain chemistry in film and paper emulsions.
