A methylated bicyclic tertiary-amine catalyst, structurally the 2-methyl homolog of triethylenediamine (TEDA). The added methyl group shifts the reaction profile, giving a more delayed onset than neat TEDA while retaining strong gelling activity. It is used to tune cure timing in rigid and flexible polyurethane systems

A grade-specific Safety Data Sheet (SDS) — with the complete hazard classification, handling precautions, and transport information — is supplied with every shipment and available on request. Confirm all safety and regulatory details against the SDS for your specific grade.
Triethylenediamine is the standard high-activity gelling catalyst for polyurethane, but its fast, front-loaded reactivity is not always wanted; large pours, spray foam, and molded parts often need more flow time before gelation. Adding a methyl group to the bicyclic cage moderates the nitrogen basicity and steric environment, which delays catalytic onset relative to neat TEDA without giving up the strong urethane (gel) push the cage structure provides. Formulators reach for it when they want TEDA-class gelling with a longer cream and rise window. The trade-off is that its activity and selectivity differ from standard TEDA, so it functions as a reaction-profile tuning tool rather than a drop-in replacement
